The slope of f(x) at x = 2 is the value of the first derivative f'(x) at x = 2.

So, we have

[tex]f'(x) = 8\cos(x^2)\cdot 2x = 16x\cos(x^2)[/tex]

which implies

[tex]f'(2)=16\cdot 2\cos(4)=32\cos(4)[/tex]
