photosynthesis exists because plants need energy in order to survive, and they obtain this energy from the sun. In simpler words, photosynthesis = plant eating, the sun = plant food

Photosynthesis is the process in which plants convert energy from the sun into energy they can use, ATP, to create their food which is glucose. In laments terms energy from the sun=energy and food for plants.
