The slope-point form: [tex]y-y_0=m(x-x_0)[/tex]

[tex]m=\dfrac{3}{4};\ (5;-8)\to x_0=5\ and\ y=-8[/tex]

subtitute

[tex]y-(-8)=\dfrac{3}{4}(x-5)\\\\y+8=\dfrac{3}{4}x-\dfrac{15}{4}\\\\y+8=\dfrac{3}{4}x-3\dfrac{3}{4}\ \ \ \ |subtract\ 8\ from\ both\ sides\\\\\boxed{y=\frac{3}{4}x-11\frac{3}{4}}[/tex]
