How do I solve... a for this equation? What steps should I take to solve it?

You can’t do anything with the parenthesis yet. So divide both sides by 2B. It cancels on the left side and it is now on the right side in the form:
(F + a) = H/2B

Now all you have to do is subtract F from both sides to get:
a = H/2B - F
