Equations don't have slopes or y-intercepts, but their graphs might.
Let's solve this equation for 'y', and see whether its graph has them.

                                         2x + 4y = 14

Subtract  2x  from each side:    4y = -2x + 14

Divide each side by  4 :              y = -1/2x + 7/2 .

In this form, we can look at the equation, and see immediately that
if we were to draw its graph, then the graph would be a straight line
with  slope= -1/2  and  y-intercept= 7/2 .
