The answer is: missions

Missions refers to communities established by workers of the Church as a place where evangelists/Nuns could live.

To convert the Indians to Christianity , Spanish leaders contacted the missions to send their Evangelists and spread Christianity through missionaries in Indian tribes. A lot of the evangelists failed their missionaries because many Indian tribes equate the evangelists as the White Citizens' effort to take over their tribes.
