The length of the top of a table is 33 m greater than the width. the area is 8888 msquared2. find the dimensions of the table.

Let w be the width of the table. Then its' length is w+3. So:
w(w+3)=88
w²+3w-88=0
(w+11)(w-8)=0
w=8 or -11
Taking the positive value, we get a width of 8m and length of 11m.
