The English Bill of Rights opposed the idea that kings had divine right to rule by making them be subjected to other powers such as the Parliament, which limited their power. Also the Bill of Rights removed the king as the head of the Church making religion not a matter of politics.

Also the King did not have power to limit other people’s rights such as freedom of speech and be free from cruel and unusual punishment.
