Because the Catholic princes in the Holy Roman Empire were tired of the ongoing religious warfare and social tension this was causing. 

Charles V was basically left without political and military allies to carry on the struggle against Protestantism in the German speaking lands of the Holy Roman Empire,so his only option was to make peace.
