I do not know if you mean x² or 2x, so here are both equations:

Equation 1:
x² - 16 = 0
x² = 16
x = √16
x = ±4
Solutions: x = 4 and x = -4

Equation 2:
2x - 16 = 0
2x = 16
x = 8
Solution: x = 8
