4x−1=−2(x+1)
4x−1=−2x−2 distribute the -2
6x−1=−2 add 2x to both sides
6x=−1 add 1 to both sides
x=−16. this step is incorrect

the last step should be dividing both sides by 6,

so the answer should be x=-1/6
