if x-4 is a factor of 2x^3 + x^2- 26x - 40

then f(4) = 0

f(x) = 2x^3 + x^2- 26x - 40

f(4) = 2(4)^3 + (4)^2 - 26(4) - 40

f(4)= 2(64) + 16 - 104 - 40

f(4) = 128 + 16 - 104 - 40

f(4) = 0
