I don't think Tubman herself could read, write and organize details well enough to write her own autobiography, which doesn't mean she couldn't think. She certainly could. More importantly she understood at a very deep level what the difference between right and wrong was, and she had the courage to act on that difference for the betterment of the colored.

All those non literary attributes attracted the kind lady to write for her.
