2x + 12 > 26

2x > 26 - 12

2x > 14

x > 14/2

x > 7

So, let's first subtract 12 from both sides.

2x>26−12

Subtract 12 from 26 to get 14.

2x>14

Now, we are left with that.  We don't want 2x, we wan't x, so we divide!

Divide both sides by 2. Since 2 is positive, the inequality direction remains the same.

x=7

Since 14/2 is 7, x is equal to 7.
