Solve the system of equations by setting the two substituting the first y equation in for the second and getting: -1/3x - 4 = -2x + 1.

Now, add 2x to the left side to cancel it from the right and add 4 to the right side to cancel if from the left to get: (5/3)x = 5

Solve for x to get 3.

Plug x into the second equation (could be either equation though) and get: y = -2(3) = 1 = -5.

Thus, (3,-5) is a solution :)
