How does free energy challenge the scientific definition of energy?

Free Energy is a thermodynamic quantity given by the subtraction between the internal energy of a system and the product of its absolute temperature and entropy.
 In physics, the ability to do work.

I may not be completely sure but compare those 2 things together and you should find your answer.
