By definition, an interjection is a word that is used to characterize a specific emotion of the speaker. It only expresses feelings. They are only seldom used in formal speaking and conversations because of doesn't have an important role as far as sentence construction is concerned

An interjection is a word or phrase that shows the emotion of the author. Things like "Yahoo!" or "Eww!" could be used in casual conversation or when writing dialogue but not in formal writing.
