Greetings!

In order to factor an expression, we must divide each term by the GCF.

The GCF would be 14 as that is the largest values we can divide both terms by (without obtaining a decimal value):
[tex]\frac{42x}{14} =3x \\ \frac{28y}{14}=2y [/tex]

The Factor Polynomial would be:
[tex]=14(3x+2y)[/tex]

Hope this helps.
